Retro Football Culture

At Jay-Jay, we believe football is more than results, trophies or league tables.
Football is memory. Emotion. Culture.

It is the way a simple game embeds itself in our lives and never truly leaves.
How goals, moments and faces become part of our own personal history.
How a Panini sticker, a grainy TV clip or a stadium name can instantly transport us back decades.

Jay-Jay exists for those who feel that same nostalgic pulse — regardless of club, nationality or generation.

We operate at the intersection between football culture and contemporary creativity: short-form stories you can read in ten minutes, podcasts designed for a walk or a commute, games and products you can print, play or share.

For a brief moment, it’s about being back in 1995 — without disconnecting from today.

What We Do

Jay-Jay is a football creative studio dedicated to the cultural side of the game.

We create:

  • editorial content and storytelling projects
  • podcasts and audiovisual formats
  • games, printed and digital products
  • creative experiments blending football, design and technology

While our roots are deeply connected to retro football, our outlook is broader: we explore the game across eras, formats and platforms — always guided by emotion, memory and creativity.

Community & Collaboration

Jay-Jay is built around a growing community of football lovers, creatives and brands who share a common appreciation for the cultural side of the game.

We have collaborated with a variety of brands and partners across editorial, creative and product-led projects. We value long-term relationships and thoughtful collaborations that respect football’s heritage while exploring new ways of telling its stories.

We are always open to working with brands and organisations that share our values — creativity, authenticity and a genuine love for the game.

If football is part of your cultural language, there’s room to build something together.

Creative Direction

Jay-Jay was founded by Lourenço Cunha Ferreira, a Lisbon-born creative director and communication strategist, currently based in Brussels.

With a background in advertising and brand strategy, Lourenço has spent years working at the intersection of creativity, communication and sport. His relationship with football has also taken professional form through projects such as Penalty Quiz (later sold to a German investment fund), Kampion Card Game (created with hundreds of artists worldwide), and Carnabol, an annual retro football tournament covered by the Portuguese media.

Jay-Jay brings together those experiences into a single creative platform — one that honours football’s past while reimagining how its stories are told today.

Why Jay-Jay?

Jay-Jay is named after Jay-Jay Okocha — “so good they named him twice”.

More than a tribute to a player, the name represents a philosophy: joy over efficiency, creativity over predictability, expression over control.

A reminder of a time when football was played with soul, long before it was measured by algorithms.

Jay-Jay is our love letter to football as culture — free, expressive and emotionally charged.
